The Byron Bay English Language School (BBELS) opened in 1998 with the aim of providing high quality English Language tuition in a beautiful and natural environment and to compliment this educational experience with a range of activity options.
BBELS has helped thousands of students from many countries to improve their English skills. We are very proud of the high quality of our academic and support services.
BBELS is a family owned and operated school, with a strong culture of quality services.
Location
The school campus is located in the central part of Byron Bay, 2 minutes walk from the bus stop- Map. We occupy a two storey building in Jonson Lane. Access is also available from Carlyle Street. LaneWay Cafe and some accommodation are also part of our school premises. Outside the ground floor classrooms there is a sheltered outdoor garden area for students to relax, eat lunch and enjoy conversations with other students. The first floor includes 8 classrooms, an indoor common area, a semi commercial kitchen, some dormitory accommodation and two balcony areas. There is free WiFi everywhere.
Green Credentials
BBELS has adopted Corporate Social Responsibility into its daily operation. These include solar energy initiatives plus water and waste recycling. A 10KW solar electric system is in place on the school’s roof. This generates close to 40% of our electrical needs. Our hot water systems at both the school building and in all student houses also use solar or heat pump technologies.
Nationalities
Students from all countries are welcome to study in Byron Bay. Most students come from Europe (Switzerland, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and more), Asia (Japan, Korea, Taiwan) or South America (Brazil and Argentina). Our aim is to attract as many nationalities as possible to ensure an international learning environment.
