Humboldt Institut Heessen Castle
Heessen Castle is situated on the Lippe River on the outskirts of the town of Hamm, in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region.
The castle dates back to the 15th century and was built in a neo-gothic style. It is surrounded by a lovely park and, besides its many historical and modern buildings, the castle grounds also feature a small island in the Lippe River.
Hamm offers many public green spaces, among them Maximilian Park with its huge glass elephant, the landmark of the town.
Our German courses in Hamm are held at Heessen Castle boarding school. Heessen Castle combines tradition and modern comfort and offers our young students a great variety of leisure time opportunities. The former manor of knights is surrounded by lush green meadows, trees, rivers, as well as a small island on the Lippe River. In addition to the Gothic three-winged main building, the gorgeous castle premises comprise a modern school building and the students’ dormitories.
